Polyworks software
PolyWorks®|Inspector is a powerful industrial 3D metrology software solution that uses non-contact point cloud devices and contact single-point probing devices to acquire and control part and tool dimensions, diagnose and prevent manufacturing and assembly problems, guide assembly builds through real-time measurements, and monitor the quality of assembled products.
.
Universal 3D Metrology Software
PolyWorks®' relational, object-oriented, and parametric architecture enables the integration of all 3D point-probing and point-cloud digitization technologies—manually operated and numerically controlled—within a common framework, ushering in a new era of universal inspection projects and device interoperability.

Obtaining Correct Alignment1
Inspection and analysis of a measured part is only possible if the digitized data is correctly positioned and oriented in space. A measured part is typically aligned with its nominal CAD model to allow for the extraction and comparison of nominal and measured dimensions. Alignment can also be achieved using various techniques:
- Surfaces or cross-sections (by best-fit measurement to nominal, constrained in rotation/translation, and within a tolerance zone)
- Geometric entities (3-2-1, center point pairs, and GD&T datum reference systems)
- Reference lines and points (RPS, surface points, and six-point sets)
- Virtual gauges (caliper, clearance and flush, and airfoil)
Extracting All Required Dimensions2
Extracting dimensions from measured parts and calculating deviations from the corresponding nominal dimensions is a fundamental aspect of the PolyWorks|Inspector workflow. Thanks to PolyWorks' exceptional flexibility, dimensions can be extracted from measured point clouds, polygonal models constructed from point clouds, or felt points. Nominal dimensions can also be extracted from a CAD model or a measured reference part.
- Deviations of surfaces, contours, and cross-sections measured from their nominal component.
- Dimensions of geometric entities and GD&T controls (ASME Y14.5-2009, ISO 1101, and PTB 64-bit/32-bit certified).
- Advanced dimensions such as clearance and flushness, profile radius, airfoils (leading edge, trailing edge, and global), assembly clearance, and thickness, among others.
