To create a measurement plan, GD&T information attached to the CAD model is required. CAD model formats "with PMI" will read the GD&T information created and stored in the CAD system. CAD formats without PMI can be annotated with GD&T in MiCAT Planner.

MiCAT planner is compatible with the following CAD systems:

  • Siemens NX with PMI

  • CATIA V5 with PMI

  • CREO (PRO/E) with PMI

  • SOLIDWORKS with PMI

  • ACIS (SAT)

Conventional programming can lead to misinterpretation of the design intent. Complex measurement programs require path optimization to avoid wasted time. Furthermore, work from different programmers can create discrepancies.

Mitutoyo's CMM programming software, MiCAT Planner, meets all these demands. By directly reading the GD&T contained in the PMI data of the part's CAD file, MiCAT Planner automatically generates the best collision-free measurement program, taking into account your measurement rules.

Technical specifications

Identifies tolerance information included in 3D models

Optimization function

Through its optimization function, the software calculates the shortest path for measurement with minimal probe repositioning and tool changes, creating a program that allows measurement in the shortest possible time

Measurement strategy

One of the main benefits you get from MiCAT Planner is compliance with the measurement rules you can establish according to your needs. Depending on the type of feature, size, or other criteria, you can decide the number of measurement points, their distribution, and even the scanning speed when applicable

Automatic or manual CAD information

When using a CAD model that includes PMI data, all entities and features required for evaluation are instantly displayed, and you can immediately start the automatic program generation. If the CAD does not include this information, you can add it using the GD&T option
